Deadpool

I didn't hate this as much as I thought I would. Most of what I know about Deadpool is from dumb internet memes, and the style of humor just angered me. The trailer didn't really change my mind either. However, it's been getting great reviews and recommendations, so I figured if I was gonna be against something I should at least see it, but I went in arms crossed.

The stuff that worked really worked, but there was still some really dumb shit. It was really funny in parts for sure, and in ways I wasn't expecting. I get that you can't really capture an R-rated movie's humor in a trailer so this makes sense. I'm not fully on the Deadpool hype train but I was glad I liked it.

Being sick has its advantages. I caught these flicks today.

Weekend of a Champion.

A Faster Horse. This one got me a little misty at the end.

And I watched Food Inc again.

Finally saw Ant Man. It was fun. I don't think I'd watch it again, but I'll certainly see the sequel. Best part of the whole movie was

The kids went nuts for for it. Marvel has done a pretty amazing job of turning stupid ideas into viable big screen adventures.

Deadpool was fanfuckintastic. The ‘parents’ who brought their 6 year old girl, not so much.

This shit was insane.

But hey, at least the fat cow of a mom covered the little girl's eyes during the sex and strip club scenes.

S’why I rarely see movies in the theater (pretty much one a year). It was a bit distracting so I’m gonna have to watch it again later from the comfort of my own recliner.

Tommorowland
Wife got this for the kids, so I kinda half-watched. Really bad. I can't think of a nice thing to say about it. Plus, over 2 hours for a 'kids' movie. Blech.

A Walk in the Woods
Enjoyable movie--kinda a nicer version of Grumpy Old Men. Nothing spectacular and I remember the book being better, but it had some laughs and Nolte is very believable as an aging ne'er-do-well. 3/5

Christ that's horrible. At least I didn't have kids whining. I did see different parents wheeling in their quadriplegic son in to watch it. That's gotta be awkward as shit.

On the shitty theater going peeve jag, I can't fucking stand the people that come in directly when the movie starts. You know when the movie's starting, and you even know you have the 15 minutes of trailers buffer zone, you have time, what is the deal? I saw The Witch last weekend, and literally, LITERALLY as soon as the movie starts up proper, 4 dinguses walk in, ice clattering in their soda cups, shuffling up the aisle and into a row, jackets swishing, snackbags and popcorn snapping and crunching, and dropping shit on the floor. It's a very quiet movie, and right off the bat the scene starts with the old-timey dialogue you have to concentrate on understanding, and I have to deal with these assholes.

I read reviews of Sisters (2015). They said it was rubbish. I started watching. It's rubbish.

Kept watching cos I like Tina. Continues to be rubbish. It's over 2 hours. Still watching.

Since posting, I have laughed at a couple of jokes, but they are cramming in 17 jokes a minute. A couple had to hit, even if by accident.

40 minutes in. Overall, still rubbish.
