It's a sad story all around. I remember reading, in the Rogers Commission, that some of the crew had actually survived the explosions and breakup but died on impact into the water. That was the part that always got to me. Dying instantly is one thing but falling from 65,000 feet with fuck-all anyone could do about it had to be horrendous.
